BRIEF
I envision myself assigned with the creative task of creating a 60-second radio advertisement for the Nando’s full-chicken sharing meal, specifically tailored to resonate with the elderly residents of a retirement home in South Africa.
INSIGHT
Today an old age home is a place of care and compassion, sharing smiles and tears, a place for fun, frolic and learning. Most importantly a place called home in ageing years.
One of the factors that make old age homes attractive to elders is the companionship. They are in constant company of people their own age and companionship is important especially for those who have lost their spouses.
To maintain these friendships that are formed, old age homes have daily activities to keep the elders active, mentally and physically stimulated and engaged.
CREATIVE RATIONALE
Sharing a meal with someone, eating and drinking together behind the same table — happens to be one of the most important expressions of sociality in all cultures. Many know it as “Breaking bread”.
With that in mind Nando’s created a radio ad to show the sense of belonging and the comfort of companionship with a group of old people at an old age home that gather to break bread and mention a few things they appreciate about each other as friends, the focus of the conversation is lost right from the start to the end.
